Frank and Nathan picked up and dropped us off at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro. We boarded the ship around 11:30 A.M. and headed for the Windjammer Cafe for the buffet. I guess we were one of the earlier groups of people on the ship. The staterooms were not open to us until 1 P.M. We walked around the open deck on 9 and 10 and took some photos. The Disney ship, Magic, was docked right next to us. They have the exact same itinerary as us so we played tag the whole week. Our stateroom was 8079 with my parents in 8077. It's a large stateroom so there was definately more space than the room I had for five day cruise over spring break.
After we dropped off our stuff in the room we roamed through the fitness center, a couple of different lounges, bars, pools, theatres, library, card room, and the main dining room.

The muster drill was at 4:30. Fun... big orange floaties to wear while standing still waiting for a bunch of losers who couldn't find their way to their assigned area. It finally ended around 5. As we began our muster drill, the Disney Magic sailed right by us. bye bye... We left an hour after them. We also saw the Carnival ship behind the Magic when they were out at sea. Carnival does the reverse itinerary so they'll be out at sea for 2 days to start. Oh, YK and I saw many dolphins around the ship after we left port. They were probably following the noise from the ship.
Yk and I went to see the comedy show at 7:45 but had to leave at 8:25 for dinner. Greg Otto was okay funny, not funny funny.
We had the late dinner seating (never again!!!) at 8:30 P.M. Can you say STARVING!!! Our waiter Hernan and asst. waiter Lak were very nice and efficient. It's just a bit too late to be eating dinner.
Day 2
Our first full day at sea. Got a late start and missed the morning stretch and walk-a-mile at the fitness center. (I missed pretty much all the fitness activities that "I wanted" to do this week.) I did make it to breakfast. Mom, Dad, and I went to the port and shopping show. Of course they were selling more stuff. A $25 guide and coupon book with a bag. Whoopie, I don't think so. There people there buying two sets! Good Grief!
Somehow we ended up at lunch in the dinning room. It definately took a lot longer sitting down. That was the last time we went to the dining room except for dinners. We checked out the art collection for sale before the auction. I don't know why Royal always have these art auction things. There were some that were interesting to me but the minimum starting price from the ones I liked were over $2900!!! Then the lady said it's an up and coming artist that'll be showing soon and will be very popular so the painting would be worth a lot. Hummm, who's going to buy that story without knowledge or research? Besides, wouldn't you think a specialist would have come on the cruise just to buy these if it was going to worth a lot in the near future. Besides who would go on a cruise ship to buy art??? This sums up my belief we just bummed around the ship all day trying not to get suckered into buying something.
Tonight was also the first formal night. We had some photos taken. I'll put those up after I get them from my mom. We didn't go to the ventriloquist show tonight since it was at 10:30. Just too tired!!! And for some reason, dinner service was really slow tonight.
Here's the link to Picasa for some of our photos from the first two days.
